allcare celebrates our Seniors during this year’s Seniors Festival with FREE community events ors Festival with FREE community events

Shaking off the challenges of the last two years, Wollongong-based in-home aged care provider, allcare, is celebrating Seniors Festival 2022 in a big way! allcare is inviting the region’s Seniors to two FREE community events that will be held during the State’s week-long activities.

NSW Seniors Festival is the largest festival for Seniors in the Southern Hemisphere, reaching up to 500,000 Seniors each year. Every year during NSW Seniors Festival, Government, community and commercial organisations hold hundreds of events across the state, encompassing art, sport, music, entertainment, technology, recreation, health, good nutrition and much more!

“The last two years have been incredibly challenging for all of us, and especially for many of our community’s Seniors, who have been more isolated than most. Unfortunately, we haven’t been able to celebrate and recognise our Seniors during the last few years’ Festivals as we would have liked,” said allcare Co-Founder and CEO, Christopher Murphy.

“This year we’re getting into the spirit of celebration and inviting Seniors across our community, and their family and friends, to join us for two free community events. We know that creating meaningful connections is important for the Seniors in our community to reduce incidences of isolation and increase feelings of enjoyment and engagement,” Mr Murphy added.

allcare Co-Founder and Chief Client Officer, Deanna Maunsell, said the events were designed to create opportunities for meeting other like-minded people while also enjoying fun activities. The community yoga event in particular is aligned to allcare’s focus on reablement.

“At allcare, we are strong advocates for encouraging our clients, where possible, to continue their health and wellbeing journey. We firmly believe in the adage of ‘move it or lose it’. We’re all about keeping moving to maintain quality of life. By offering events such as community yoga and working with local providers like Savvy Fitness, we’re able to engage not only our clients, but also the broader community, in joining us in our movement of health and wellbeing for all ages,” she said.

Savvy Fitness owner, Angela Saville, said she is excited to be taking part in the community yoga event.

“My mission is to make health and fitness part of everyone’s daily lives, no matter your age or ability. Keeping active at any age is very important, especially as we get older. We’ve been hosting a Savvy Seniors group for some time, where we work on overall fitness, strength, balance and skills that ensure our seniors remain independent and in their own homes for longer,” Ms Saville said.

“At the allcare community yoga event we’ll be making sure all abilities will be able to enjoy the benefits of yoga. From those who are more advanced, to those who are beginners and are keen to have a bit of a play and see if yoga is for them, and those with limited mobility and need to be seated during the class. Our aim at this session is to get everyone moving, even just a little bit, and have some fun while we do it!” she added.
